Two members had a good meeting with Robert Roach from Southwark Council today. We haven’t had a meeting for nearly 6 years! We walked around the woods and Open Space & discussed maintenance & other plans. Needs a bit of a careful and ecologically-minded tidy up.
On the to-do list we agreed:
- replace the burnt picnic bench top
- strim the invasive alexanders in the glade
- strim the verge between the side of the wood and the flats
- remove the chestnut fencing from the hedge
- we are looking into options to “lay” the hedge
- strim the overgrown brambles that are spilling out of the wood onto the path that leads to Green Dale fields
- mend the green fence that was flattened when a huge tree came down during Storm Eunice in Feb 2022
- do a big litter pick
- the council will collect the rubbish bags if we leave them by the bins
- the council will also collect green waste if we pile it somewhere
Really good to have a catch up and thank you Robert for agreeing to get some jobs done in DKH Open Space.
