Gaumont Film Studio
Gaumont film company set up their studio on Green Dale from 1904 – 1912. More information on Gaumont is available elsewhere on the site.
The great thing about this fact is that Gaumont used Green Dale as a set for one of their films: “How Percy Won the Beauty Competition”. Watch these prankseters running around Green Dale and using the cricket pavilions as backdrops for the action. You can see St. Constance Rd workhouse in the background too – it’s the large building behind the grassy slope (it was demolished to make way for the estate around Burrows Road). There’s even a flash of the Dulwich Hamlet football ground. And interesting to see sheep roaming on the fields!
